Welcome to Semaphore UI (“Semaphore UI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information in connection with distributing and supporting Semaphore UI, a self-hosted application that our customers install and run on their own infrastructure.
1. Overview
- Self-hosted application: Semaphore UI is deployed and operated within our customers’ own environments (e.g., on-premises servers, private cloud, or other infrastructure). Each customer (“you,” “your,” or “user”) is responsible for maintaining and securing the data processed by Semaphore UI on your own systems.
- Limited data collection: Because Semaphore UI is self-hosted, any personal data that it processes or stores on your systems is controlled by you, not by us. We do not automatically collect or access end-user information stored within your instance of Semaphore UI unless specifically authorized by you (e.g., for troubleshooting or support reasons).
2. Personal information we collect
Although Semaphore UI is self-hosted, we may collect certain types of personal information under the following circumstances:
-
Subscription and account information
- Contact details: If you purchase a subscription from us, we collect your name, email address, billing address, and/or other contact information to manage your account and verify subscription eligibility.
- Payment information: When you make a purchase, our payment processor (a third party) collects payment details (e.g., credit card information). We do not store or directly process this financial data; instead, we receive confirmation of payment and necessary billing details.
-
Support and communications
- Support requests: If you contact us for support, we may collect additional information you provide regarding your technical issues, which may include logs, system details, or screenshots. Some of this information could contain personal data, depending on what you choose to share.
- Email communications: We maintain records of communications if you email us, submit a support ticket, or otherwise reach out. These communications may include personal data such as your name and contact details.
-
Diagnostic or telemetry data (if enabled)
- Semaphore UI can be configured to optionally send diagnostic or telemetry data back to us for troubleshooting or analytics (e.g., version information, configuration flags, or usage metrics). If enabled, it may incidentally include user or system identifiers. We will specify in our documentation what data is collected and how it is handled.
- This data collection is typically disabled by default. You can enable or disable it within your Semaphore UI settings.
3. How we use personal information
We use collected personal information in the following ways:
- Product licensing: To verify your subscription, manage activations, and ensure compliance with applicable subscription terms.
- Customer support: To respond to support requests, debug errors, or otherwise maintain and improve the performance of Semaphore UI.
- Service improvements: If telemetry or diagnostic data is shared, we may analyze it to improve product features, user experience, and overall performance.
- Communications: To send you important notices such as security alerts, updates to subscription terms, feature announcements, or changes to this Privacy Policy.
- Legal compliance: Where required by law or to enforce our agreements (e.g., investigating potential violations, or responding to legal process).
4. How we share personal information
We will not sell or rent your personal information. We only share personal information in limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We may share information with third-party vendors or service providers who assist with payment processing, email delivery, or other operational needs. They are contractually obligated to handle your information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.
- Business transfers: If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you if there are changes in data handling or ownership.
- Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or to respond to valid legal processes (e.g., court orders, government requests), or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
5. Data Retention
- Account and subscription data: We retain subscription and account data for as long as you remain an active customer and for a reasonable period thereafter (e.g., to comply with financial records obligations).
- Support Ddta: We retain support-related communications and logs for as long as necessary to resolve your issue and maintain historical records for future diagnostics.
- Telemetry (if enabled): Diagnostic data may be stored in aggregated form for analytics and product improvement. If it includes personal identifiers, we will anonymize or delete it as soon as it is no longer needed.
6. Security
We employ industry-standard security measures to protect personal information we hold, including encryption of data in transit (e.g., secure HTTPS connections for web-based communications), restricted access, and other safeguards. However, no method of transmission or storage is entirely secure. Your self-hosted environment is your responsibility: you are responsible for implementing security measures on your infrastructure to protect any data processed by Semaphore UI.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:
- Access, correction, deletion: You can request access to, or correction or deletion of, personal information we hold (e.g., your account/subscription details). For data stored within your self-hosted instance, you must manage that data on your own servers.
- Opt-out of communications: You may unsubscribe from our marketing or promotional emails at any time by following the instructions in those messages.
- Telemetry opt-out: If Semaphore UI’s diagnostic or telemetry feature is enabled, you can disable it in your application settings to stop data from being sent to us.
8. International data transfers
If you are located outside the country where we operate, please note that we may process and store data in your country of operation or ours. We will only transfer data in compliance with applicable data protection laws, and we take steps to ensure that personal information receives an adequate level of protection.
9. Third-party links and integrations
Semaphore UI may provide links or integrations to third-party services or content. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of such third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing any personal information.
10. Children’s privacy
Semaphore UI is not intended for use by individuals under the age of [13/16/18]*. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take steps to delete it.
(Adjust the age threshold to comply with relevant regulations in your jurisdiction.)
11. Updates to this privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we do, we will post the revised Policy on our website and update the “Effective Date.” Your continued use of Semaphore UI after the revised Policy becomes effective indicates your acceptance of the changes.
